| lisl | Winter School: The systems neuroscience of primate hand function: models, mechanisms, rehabilitation and mirror systems | 09:00:00 | 18:00:00 |
This Winter School would bring together neuroscientists from a variety of different disciplines to provide an updated account of sensorimotor control of skilled hand function in the primate. This would include new findings on neuroanatomy and connectivity of brain areas involved in hand control, neurophysiology, non-invasive imaging and psychophysiology of hand function, including tool use and gesture, visual guidance of hand function and the role of the mirror neuron system. It would also include work on internal representations of hand control, plasticity after damage and deafferentation and new therapies for promoting recovered hand function. Presentations would feature overlapping work from non-human primate and human studies and would highlight the continuing importance of animal models for understanding human hand function in both health and disease.
