As part of our CEEPUS exchange programme we have to pleasure to welcome Prof. Maurice Grinberg, New Bulgarian University, Sofia, for a talk and workshop on cognitive modelling.
Public Lecture: "Cognitive aspects of decision making in the prisoner's dilemma game"
Date: May 9th, 12:00 - 13:30
Location: HS 2H, Department of Philosophy, NIG, Universitätsstr. 7, 2nd floor
Abstract:
During the talk some recent experimental and simulation results involving the Prisoner's Dilemma (PD) game will be presented. PD games are important in capturing typical interactions in which human participants cooperate with each other. In the presentation, several aspects (e.g. the role of context and anticipation) of PD game playing are explored and are shown to be important for explaining the decision making behaviour and cooperation in particular.
Workshop: "Cognitive modelling"
Date: May 9th, 13:30 - 18:00
Location: HS 2H, Department of Philosophy, NIG, Universitätsstr. 7, 2nd floor
Abstract:
The workshop will be a theoretical introduction to cognitive modelling emphasizing the latest approaches in the field related to the dynamical systems approach. It will trace the ideas of the "Mind as motion" book (Port & van Gelder , 1995) over the years and end up with the Dynamical Field Theory (Schoener & Spencer, http://www.uiowa.edu/~icdls/dft/dft-tutorial.html) and the iCub project (http://www.robotcub.org/).
Please register for the workshop by sending an email to Elisabeth Zimmermann (elisabeth.zimmermann@univie.ac.at).
